Troubleshooting

Hovering the notch does nothing

Termy needs Accessibility permission to see the cursor. System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility, and switch Termy on. In the meantime, ⌥` and the menu bar icon both work.

My Xcode projects don't show up

Termy asks Xcode through Automation. Check Privacy & Security → Automation → Termy → Xcode. If you'd rather not grant it, drag the folder onto the notch instead.

The status never changes

Exact status comes from Claude Code's hooks, which Termy passes to the agent when it starts the session. If you launched claude yourself inside the tab, it doesn't have them — Termy falls back to reading the terminal, which is less reliable. Restart the tab and let Termy start the agent.

Using Codex? Type /hooks in Codex once and trust Termy's hooks; Codex asks for this the first time by design.

"claude: command not found"

Termy starts your login shell, so claude has to be on the PATH that shell sets up. Open Terminal and run command -v claude. If that comes back empty, install Claude Code or add its folder to your PATH in ~/.zshrc.

Dictation doesn't hear me

Check Privacy & Security → Microphone and Speech Recognition for Termy. If your language has no on-device model, macOS handles recognition its usual way. With Whisper, only the microphone is needed; if it isn't downloaded yet, Termy uses macOS recognition until it is.

macOS says it "can't verify Termy is free of malware"

Termy is signed and notarized by Apple, so a clean copy never shows this. It appears when the app was damaged on its way to you: copied out of a folder by hand, sent through a chat app or a cloud drive that rewrites files, or unpacked by a third-party archiver. Download the disk image again from apptermy.com, drag Termy to Applications, and open it from there.

To check a copy, run spctl -a -vvv -t exec /Applications/Termy.app in Terminal. Notarized Developer ID means it's fine; unsealed contents means that copy is damaged. Also open the app itself, not the file inside Contents/MacOS — running that directly bypasses the normal check and macOS blocks it.

My Mac has no notch

Everything works except the pill itself. The menu bar icon takes its color from the agent's status, notifications carry the same buttons, and the panel opens under the icon.

Pro didn't unlock, or I'm on a new Mac

Settings → Pro → Restore purchases. Moving Macs: copy the account id from the old one and paste it into Bought on another Mac? on the new one.

Still stuck? Email us — include your macOS version and Termy's version from Settings → About.
