For Claude Code & Codex on the Mac

Your coding agent,
in the notch.

Termy puts Claude Code and Codex in a terminal that drops down from your MacBook's notch. See when your agent is working, approve its commands without switching windows, and know the moment it's done.

Without Termy

With Termy

How it works

Open a project. Termy does the rest.

    1. 1

      Hover the notch

A terminal panel drops down and hides again when you move away. You can also click the menu bar icon or press ⌥`.

    2. 2

      Your projects are already there

Termy opens a tab for every project open in Xcode, VS Code or Cursor. Drop any folder on the notch to add one.

    3. 3

Your agent starts in the right folder

Each tab starts Claude Code or Codex in its project, and picks the conversation back up after you restart your Mac.

Know what your agent is doing, without watching it.

Termy reads Claude Code's and Codex's own hook events, so the status is exact rather than guessed from the screen.

    Approve from the notch

When your agent wants to run a command, the notch shows exactly what it is, with Allow and Deny buttons. If you don't answer, it asks in the terminal as usual.

    Live status

A spinner while it works, a warning when it needs you, a checkmark when it's done. On the notch, on every tab, and in the menu bar.

    Tool activity

A line under the notch shows what's happening right now: "Editing App.swift", "Running npm test".

    Notifications you can answer

Using an external display? Allow, deny or jump to the session straight from the notification.

Picks up where you left off

Quit, restart or update, and every tab reopens its conversation, in Claude Code or Codex. If the agent crashes mid-task, Termy brings it back with the same conversation. Browse and resume older Claude sessions too.

    A real terminal

Your login shell with nine color themes, including calm ones that follow macOS light and dark, search (⌘F), drag-and-drop paths and clickable file links. Click in your prompt to move the cursor there, and color your tabs to tell them apart. It also runs Codex CLI, Gemini CLI, OpenCode and Amp.

    Every session, not just Termy's

Claude running in another terminal, an editor or from your phone shows up in Termy's menu bar card with its folder and whether it's busy. Click one to take it over in a tab.

    Talk to it

Press ⌥V, say what you want, and the words appear under the notch and go to the agent. Nothing to click, nothing to type. With Pro, OpenAI's Whisper runs on your Mac and spells your project's names right.

    Go where you're needed

Several agents waiting on you? One shortcut jumps to the next one. You can also answer straight from the notification, without opening anything.

    Waits out your plan limit

Hit the 5-hour cap with prompts queued? They wait instead of failing, and go out the moment the window resets — even if you've walked away.

Check back on what you shipped

Changed your paywall today? Set a check-in for next week, or just tell your agent "remind me in a week to check the stats". When it's due, Termy reopens that project with a prompt ready, so you can decide whether to keep it or change it.

    Easy on your eyes

Calm Soft Dark, Warm Night and Paper themes that follow macOS light and dark. Faint colors are brightened so they stay readable, and you pick the font, weight, size and line spacing.

    Search everything you've asked

"Where did I fix that StoreKit bug?" Search the text of every Claude conversation on your Mac and resume the one you find.

    Links that find themselves

The local server your agent starts (localhost:3000) and the files it edited appear above the terminal. Open them, Quick Look them, or show them in Finder.

    Open any folder

Right-click a folder in Finder and choose Open in Termy, drop it on the notch or the menu bar icon, or type open -a Termy .

    Everything in one card

Right-click the menu bar icon for your sessions and what each is doing, rings for your Claude and Codex plan limits, and quick switches.

    Termy Pro

For when the agent does the heavy lifting.

    Unlimited sessions & split view

Run an agent in every project and put two side by side with ⌘D.

    Checkpoints

Termy snapshots your project before every prompt. Compare any snapshot with now and restore it in one click. Your branches and staged files are never touched.

    Usage insights

Tokens and estimated cost per project and per day, across every Claude Code session on your Mac.

    Workflow toolbar

See the files each turn changed and revert the turn. Send saved prompts and Xcode build errors, and queue the next prompt while the agent works.

    Review notes

Click a line in any diff to leave a note, like a code review. Send all your notes to the agent as one message.

    Git worktrees

Start a session on its own branch in a worktree, so agents don't trip over each other. Review its changes, open a pull request or merge it back from the tab.

    Race

Give one prompt to Claude Code and Codex at once, each in its own worktree. Compare what each lane changed, merge the winner and delete the rest.

    Agent Office

A pixel-art office where your agents and every subagent they start sit at desks, all in one room or a floor per project. Name them, see who's working on what, approve right there, chat with any agent from the panel beside the room, and click the whiteboard to read everything they finished today. Press ⌘E.

    Termy Browser

Open your local server next to the agent. Pick any element and its HTML, styles and a screenshot go straight into your prompt, along with the page's console errors.

    Whisper dictation

OpenAI's Whisper, running on your Mac. It understands mixed languages and technical words, and knows your project and file names. Your voice never leaves your Mac.

    Silent mode

Watching a movie while a long task runs? Your agents keep working, but the notch stays plain and nothing notifies, plays a sound or pops up until you turn it off.

    Questions

Which agents does Termy work with?

Claude Code and Codex CLI get the full experience: exact status, tool activity, approvals from the notch and plan-usage bars, because Termy uses both agents' hook systems. Gemini CLI, OpenCode, Amp and a plain shell also run in Termy, but their status is read from the terminal output, which is a guess rather than a fact. A few features read Claude's own files and are Claude-only: the session browser, conversation search, tracking sessions started outside Termy, and cost in usage insights. Pick your agent in Settings → Agent.

What if my Mac doesn't have a notch?

Everything still works from the menu bar icon, whose color follows the agent's status, and from notifications. You only need a notch for the notch pill and the Allow / Deny box.

Does Termy send my code anywhere?

No. Termy runs on your Mac. Claude Code and Codex talk to their own services as usual, and Termy doesn't add anything to that. Termy itself only connects to the internet to check your Pro purchase (with an anonymous id), to check for updates, and to download a Whisper speech model once if you choose to. Dictation with Whisper runs entirely on your Mac. See the privacy page.

Will checkpoints mess up my git history?

No. Snapshots are stored as separate git refs, never on your branches. Creating one doesn't change your staged files. Restoring one takes a safety snapshot first, so you can undo it.

How exact are the cost numbers?

They're estimates: token counts from Claude Code's transcripts, priced at the public API rates. If you use a Claude subscription, you're billed by your plan instead. The numbers are still a good way to compare projects and days.

    What do I need?

macOS 26 or later, and Claude Code (the claude command) or Codex CLI (codex) installed. A MacBook with a notch gets the full experience.

Give your agent a home on your Mac.
