Short version: Termy runs on your Mac. It doesn't collect analytics, doesn't track you, and never sends your code, prompts or terminal output anywhere.
What stays on your Mac
- Everything in your terminals, and everything the agent reads or writes.
- Checkpoints: stored in your project's own git repository.
- Usage insights: calculated from Claude Code's transcripts in
~/.claude. The results are cached on your Mac. - Settings, snippets and session list: stored in your Mac's app preferences.
- Your voice, when you dictate with Whisper (Pro): it's turned into text on your Mac and never sent anywhere.
Termy talks to Claude Code through a small server that only accepts connections from your own Mac (127.0.0.1). It is never reachable from the network.
What Termy sends over the internet
- Pro purchase check. When you install Termy, it creates a random, anonymous account id (for example
termy_…). It sends this id to RevenueCat, our payment provider, to check whether you've bought Pro. When Termy starts, and once a day while it runs, RevenueCat also notes that the app checked in, which is how we count active users. The id is not linked to your name or email unless you enter them at checkout. - Buying Pro. Checkout happens in your browser on a page run by RevenueCat and Stripe. They handle your payment details under their own privacy policies; Termy never sees your card.
- Refunding Pro. If you use the form on the refunds page, the account id you paste (and the email address, if you give one) goes to our own server on apptermy.com, which passes it to RevenueCat to issue the refund. We don't store it and we don't keep a copy of the email address.
- Whisper speech model. If you download one in Settings → General → Dictation, Termy fetches it once from Hugging Face (
huggingface.co). Like any web request, this includes your IP address. No audio or text is sent. - macOS dictation. Without Whisper, dictation uses Apple's speech recognition. It runs on your Mac where the language supports it; otherwise Apple processes it under its own privacy policy.
- Update checks. Termy downloads
apptermy.com/appcast.xmlto see if a new version is available. Like any web request, this includes your IP address and app version. - Announcements. A few times a day Termy downloads
apptermy.com/config.json, which says which versions still need an update and holds the occasional notice. It includes your IP address and app version.
The agent you run in Termy (for example Claude Code) connects to its own service under its own terms. Termy doesn't change what it sends.
